THE BASIC RULES OF FUTSAL - (These rules will be applied in Bakersfield Futsal's Recreational Leagues in order to keep the game fun and simple.)

1. The use of a Goalkeeper.

2. No off-side

3. When the ball goes out of bounds, crossing the touch lline (touches the wall), it is put back into play by a kick-in. An indirect kick that cannot go directly into the goal. It must be first touched by another player.

4. When the ball goes out of bounds, crossing the end line (touching the wall) and the last player to touch the ball was an attacking player, play is restarted with a throw in by the goalkeeper (no goal kicks). The ball must leave the penalty area before it can be touched by another player. The keeper can NOT throw the ball over the half way line.           

5. When the ball goes out of bounds, crossing the end line (touching the wall) and the last player to touch the ball was a defending player, play is restarted by a corner kick. Which may go directly into the goal.

6. The start of the match, the start of the second half of the match, or the restart of the match after a score will be done with a kick-off. The ball will be placed at the center mark. The defending team must be outside of the center circle and the ball is in play at the moment it is touched by the team kicking-off. The player taking the kick-off may not touch the ball again until another player touches it. Goals can NOT be scored from a kick-off.

7. Players can score from anywhere on the field. The whole of the ball must cross the over the goal line. Goals can  NOT be scored from a kick-off.

8. All fouls are penalized with an indirect kick except those fouls committed inside of the penalty area. Fouls inside of the penalty area are penalized with a penalty kick. The opponent must be five feet away from the ball at the time of the kick. During a penalty kick all players must be five feet away AND behind the ball. The penalty area is the complete area between the end line and the first white line at each end of the field.

9. ALL kicks must be taken within 4 seconds. If the 4 second rule is violated, the opposing team is awarded the ball and an indirect kick. The kicker cannot touch the ball again untill another player touches it.

10. Any team that accumulates 5 fouls* in a half of a match will be penalized for that half by:

    A.- the team will not be allowed to use defensive walls against the opponets free kick caused by a foul.

    B. - the team will not be awarded ANY direct kicks against the opponent. Any kick caused by a foul or any corner kick.

    C. - the team will award all kicks they cause by foul  to the opponent as direct kicks. 

*U-8 does not accumulate fouls.

11. Any player recieving two yellow cards or one red card during the match must immediately leave the field of play and the facility. A substitute for a red carded player may enter the game after two minutes or after the opposing team scores a goal. The substitute must wait for stoppage of play and have the referee's permission to enter the field. Any red carded player will be suspended from the next scheduled match.

12. Any player recieving a total of three red cards in a season will be suspended for the remainder of that season and is subject to be permanetly banned  from the league. Bakersfield Futsal reserves the right to refuse entrance to the league of any person.

13. ALL restarts are under a 4 second restart rule. Violations will reward the ball and an indirect kick to the opposing team.             

14. All matches will be a maximum of 2, two, twenty minute halfs and a maximum 10 minute half time.

15. Minimum players required to start a match - 5    Minimum players required to finish a match - 2  Maximum players on a roster - 12

16. Substitutions. All substitutions are made on the fly at any time. The player being substituted must completely leave the field before the substitute can enter the field. Goalkeeper substitution can only take place at the stopage of play with the referee's permission.

17. Player's equipment. Shin gaurds are REQUIRED. Teams must wear league supplied jerseys, matching, with numbers. Indoor type shoes ONLY.  NO BLACK SOLED SHOES ALLOWED.

18. BAKERSFIELD FUTSAL reserves the right to amend these rules at any time.
